What you need:
  • 32-gallon plastic trash can w/ lid
  • Alfalfa meal or pellets
  • Epsom salts
Rose bushes love alfalfa tea. It's easy to make and organic, so you don't have to worry about overdoing it and burning your prized plants. A 32-gallon plastic garbage can works perfectly for brewing the tea.

Next, add 2 cups of Epsom salts to the tea. The salts supply the rose with a constant source of the trace element magnesium sulfate.

Fill the can with water, then place the lid on the trash can and wait. The mix will be ready in 4 to 5 days. Use 1 gallon of mix per standard rose bush and 1/3 gallon on minis. When the tea is gone, you can reuse the same alfalfa once more. Simply refill the can with water and add more Epsom salts.
