Disbudding eliminates all but one rosebud per cane. The isolated bloom grows larger and more vigorously than it would if the plant's energy was divided among several blooms.

Disbudding should be done before the buds start to open.

Remove all but the largest central bud with a pair of pruners or a sharp knife. If the buds are young enough you can pinch them off with your fingers.
