|What you need:
Occasionally applying a thin layer of top-dressing to your lawn keeps it looking its best. This is especially useful after aerating your lawn because the top-dressing mix fills in the holes that are left in the process. It's best to spread top-dressing when your lawn is dry. A mix of 2 parts sand, 1 part sieved soil, and 1 part compost works great. If you need to cover a large area with the top-dressing mix, use a spreader. Cover your lawn with no more than ¼" of top-dressing at one time.
