What you need:
- Clay pot
- Cardboard strip or folded up newspaper
- Cactus potting mix
Even slow growing cacti eventually need to be transplanted. Choose a pot that is one size larger than the pot the cactus is currently in. Clay pots are the best choice for cacti. |

A strip of cardboard or a folded up newspaper wrapped around the cactus will protect your hands from the thorns. Rap the rim of the pot on a table, then gently remove the plant. |

Place the cactus into the new pot and fill the space around the root ball with cactus mix. |

Use cardboard or folded up newspaper to firm the soil around the root ball, adding more cactus mix if necessary. |

Wait a day or so, then water the cactus thoroughly. |
