What you need:
  • A small pot
  • Cactus mix
  • Grit for topdressing
Remove a healthy leaf from the parent plant.

Wait two days before planting the cutting. This will give the wound time to callus over. This step is important because it will help protect the leaf from disease.

Place each cutting in a pot filled with a even mix of sand and fine peat. The leaf should be just far enough in the mix so that it is securely held.

Top dress the soil mix with gravel or grit.

It will take a few weeks for the cutting to root. Keep the soil moist but not wet. Once you see new growth emerging, it's time to plant the cutting into a larger pot.
