What you need:
  • 3" or 4" pots
  • Cactus mix
  • Gravel or grit
Some succulents can be divided simply by pulling individual clumps off one plant. Although this is similar to root division, it is far less stressful for the plant. There is no actual damage to the root system and each clump is easily transplanted to a new pot.

Start by removing the parent plant from its pot. Gently pull the individual clumps apart.

Add a little gravel to the bottom of each pot that you will be planting in. Place each clump into its own pot and fill in with cactus mix.

Wait a few days before watering the new plants. This will give the roots time to settle in the soil mix.
