Oncidiums are noted for their bright yellow sprays of long lasting flowers. They enjoy a moderate amount of light, with morning sun until about noon ideal. The foliage should be lime green. If the foliage becomes yellowish it is a sign that the plant is receiving too much light. Dark green foliage is a sign that the plant is not receiving enough light.

Oncidiums like to be watered when the medium is almost totally dried out. They have pseudobulbs that retain water so it isn't necessary or beneficial to keep them moist all the time.

Feed Oncidiums regularly from spring to fall with a water-soluble fertilizer that is high in nitrogen. Non-urea fertilizers are preferred because the nitrogen is immediately available while the nitrogen in urea based fertilizers is not. Read the label for fertilizer application frequency and rates.
