First collect the trimmings. Evergreen shrubs and trees, branches with berries, and holly, all work great. Soak the trimmings overnight in a bucket of water with floral preservative added. Follow the recommended concentration on the package.

A 6" diameter polystyrene sphere is used as the core. Insert the wire through the center of the sphere and out the other side. Bend the piece of wire that is protruding from the sphere to form a flat loop.

Thread a piece of ribbon through the loop.

Cut the trimmings back to 6-8 inches in length. Start inserting them into the sphere. Continue adding trimmings until they hide the whole sphere.

Spray the trimmings with an anti-transpirant such as those used for Christmas trees. This, combined with the preservative soak in step one, will greatly extend the life of the sphere. Now hang the sphere in your home for a unique holiday decoration.
