What you need:
  • Ceramic container
  • Duct tape
  • Plumber's epoxy
  • Spray can of polyurethane
The only criterion for a suitable water gardening container is its ability to hold water. You can seal ceramic containers so that they can be used for water gardening. Start by taping over the drainage hole with duct tape.

Next, use plumber's epoxy to fill the hole from the inside. Pack it firmly to eliminate any air pockets and ensure good contact. Allow the epoxy to set before continuing.

Seal the inside of the pot with polyurethane from a spray can. Apply 3 or 4 thin coats of polyurethane, letting each coat dry before applying the next. When the last coat is dry, the container can be planted.
